WILSON, N.C. – The Barton women's volleyball team (6-15, 3-10) fell to North Greenville (12-13, 9-4), 3-2, in a close contest on Senior Night for the Bulldogs on Friday evening in Conference Carolinas action at Wilson Gymnasium.
The Crusaders, winners of six of their last seven contests, prevailed over the Bulldogs by scores of 21-25, 25-16, 25-14, 20-25 and 15-13.
North Greenville was led by Anna Fiddelke (Piedmont, S.C.) with 15 kills while Samantha Ball (Saint Paul, Minn.) tallied a double-double – 14 kills and 13 digs – in the victory.
Barton was led by senior right side hitter
Lily Haaga (Herriman, Utah) with 14 kills and senior outside hitter
Henly Sleight (Jackson, Mich.) with a double-double – 13 kills and 12 digs – and the Bulldogs totaled 17 blocks despite the loss. Barton, however, hit just 0.081 for the contest in suffering its third straight setback.
Barton remains at home to take on Chowan in the finale at Wilson Gymnasium this year in a league contest on Wednesday starting at 6:00 p.m., while North Greenville faces Chowan on Saturday at Noon in Murfreesboro, N.C.
