MOUNT OLIVE, N.C. – The Barton women's soccer team (4-6-4, 1-5-4) tied rival Mount Olive (7-3-5, 5-3-3), 1-1, Tuesday evening in a Conference Carolinas match at Amon Field.
The Bulldogs, who fell to the Trojans by a 1-0 score on Wednesday, October 9, at home, tied the score in the 61st minute courtesy of senior defender
Hannah Johnson (Oneonta, N.Y.). The goal was Johnson's second of the year and it came off a free kick.
Mount Olive opened the scoring just 10:45 into the match when Yaneli Sanchez (Garner, N.C.) found the back of the net for her seventh goal of the season.
The Trojans held a 12-7 advantage in scoring while both goalkeepers, Barton senior
Taylor Primack (Lindenhurst, Ill.) and Samantha Gildner (Natrona Heights, Pa.), both allowed just one goal in 90 minutes of action. Primack made a pair of saves while Gildner stopped three shots on the day.
Barton returns home to host Chowan in a league match and the regular season finale on Friday at 4:00 p.m., while Mount Olive travels to Florence, S.C., to face Francis Marion Saturday starting at 1:00 p.m.
