ROME, Ga. – The Barton women's volleyball team (6-13, 3-8) saw its five-match winning streak come to a close with a 3-1 setback to Shorter (11-11, 6-5) Saturday afternoon in a Conference Carolinas contest at Winthrop-King Centre.
The Hawks won over the Bulldogs by scores of 25-19, 24-26, 25-19 and 25-18 and saw its three-match losing streak come to an end.
Shorter was led by Emily Crocker (Bethlehem, Ga.) with a match-high 23 kills while Victoria Sparks (Bardstown, Ky.) added a dozen kills as the home team held a 49-26 edge in kills and limited the Bulldogs to a 0.038 hitting percentage.
Barton was led by senior right side hitter Lilly Haaga (Herriman, Utah) with eight kills and senior outside hitter
Henly Sleight (Jackson, Mich.) finished with seven kills and 12 digs in the losing effort. Barton senior libero
Lilly Meyer (Greencastle, Ind.) totaled 18 digs in the setback as well.
Barton travels to Mount Olive, N.C., to take on Mount Olive on Wednesday night at 6:30 p.m., in a league rivalry contest while Shorter faces Emmanuel in Franklin Springs, Ga., on Wednesday at 7:00 p.m.
