Barton women’s soccer falls to Francis Marion Wednesday in league action at home

WILSON, N.C. – The Barton women's soccer team (4-6-3, 1-5-2) was shut out by Francis Marion (8-1-4, 7-0-3), 2-0, in a Conference Carolinas match Wednesday afternoon at the Bulldogs Athletic Complex.

The Patriots, who remained at the top of the East Division standings, received both goals from Kristina Syragakis (Quebec, CANADA) to help Francis Marion sweep the season series from Barton.

Syragakis took advantage of a defensive misplay to score right in front of the goal just 16:10 into the match and chipped the ball into the net off a free kick from Bryn Lahart (Sherwood, Ore.) in the 43rd minute just before halftime.  Lahart was credited with the assist.

Francis Marion held a 14-2 advantage in shots taken and kept Barton winless in its past seven matches (0-5-2).  The Patriots' Erin Grabeel (Gordonsville, Va.) earned the win in goal while the Bulldogs' senior goalkeeper, Taylor Primack (Lindenhurst, Ill.), suffered the loss despite a pair of saves.

Barton remains at home to take on Converse on Saturday at Truist Stadium in a league match for Senior Day while Francis Marion faces Belmont Abbey in Belmont, N.C., starting at 4:30 p.m.
