PEMBROKE, N.C. – The Barton women's soccer team (4-5-2, 1-4-2) were blanked by UNC Pembroke (8-2-3, 7-0-3), 3-0, Saturday afternoon in a Conference Carolinas contest at Lumbee River EMC Stadium.
The Braves, who lead the East Division of the league, received goals from Eli Soderberg (Stockholm, SWEDEN), Mario Cancio (San Juan, PUERTO RICO) and Eugenie Amidou (Montreal, Quebec, CANADA).
Soderberg's goal was the match-winner just 10:14 into the contest as the Braves remained unbeaten in conference play this year.
UNC Pembroke held a 29-7 edge in shots taken while Anna Bass (Edenton, N.C.) earned the shutout victory in goal after stopping two shots. Barton senior
Taylor Primack (Lindenhurst, Ill.) took the loss despite 11 stops on the afternoon. Barton also stretched its winless streak to six matches: 0-4-2.
Barton returns home to take on Francis Marion in a league contest on Wednesday afternoon starting at 4:30 p.m., while UNC Pembroke travels to Wingate, N.C., to face Wingate on Wednesday beginning at 5:00 p.m.
