WILSON, N.C. – The Barton men's soccer team (6-2-1, 3-2-1) tied Lees-McRae (3-3-4, 3-2-2), 1-1, Wednesday afternoon in a Conference Carolinas contest at the Bulldogs Athletic Complex.
Barton opened the scoring just under five minutes after halftime when sophomore defender
Kai Thurston (Harleston, ENGLAND) found junior forward
Tommy Migliarotti (Milan, ITALY) streaking down the middle of the field and fed him for the goal. Thurston was credited with the assist.
Lees-McRae tied the match at one at the 53:59 mark when Noah Daragmeh (Trier, GERMANY) headed the ball into the net right in front of the goal off a long pass from Owen Smith (Winston-Salem, N.C.).
The shots were 16-all while both goalkeepers – Barton junior
Steingrimur Gunnarsson (Grenivik, ICELAND) and Jonathan Kienle (Heidenheim, GERMANY) – made five stops on the afternoon.
Barton remains at home to take on Francis Marion next Wednesday in a league contest beginning at 7:30 p.m., while Lees-McRae faces King in Bristol, Tenn., on Saturday starting at 3:00 p.m.
