MURFREESBORO, N.C. – The Barton women's volleyball team (4-12, 3-7) made it three victories in a row with a 3-2 triumph over Chowan (3-14, 1-9) Tuesday evening in a Conference Carolinas contest at the Hawks Athletic Center.
The Bulldogs prevailed over the Hawks by scores of 20-25, 25-9, 25-16, 15-25 and 15-13.
Barton senior right side hitters
Lily Haaga (Herriman, Utah) and
Lauryn Pitt (Greenville, N.C.) both finished with 11 kills each while senior setter
Hailey Strey (Cape Coral, Fla.) – 21 assists and 10 digs – tallied a double-double in the victory.
Chowan was led by Alexa Wasil (Prescott, Ariz.) with 12 kills but the Hawks hit just .109 for the match in the losing effort. The
Hawks did have 13 service aces on the night.
Barton returns home to host Emory & Henry (6:00 p.m.) and Elizabeth City State (8:00 p.m.) on Saturday at Wilson Gymnasium while Chowan hosts King in a league contest Friday at 7:00 p.m.
