Barton women’s soccer forces one-all tie with Young Harris in league action on the road

YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. – The Barton women's soccer team (4-4-3, 1-3-2) tied Young Harris (4-5-2, 4-1-2), 1-1, Tuesday afternoon in a Conference Carolinas contest at the Mountain Lions Complex.

Barton graduate student forward Lexis Goldberg (Sanford, N.C.) scored her team-leading eighth goal of the season in the 22nd minute to give the visitors the lead.

The Mountain Lions tied the contest just over five minutes later thanks to Shania Harris (Portmore, JAMAICA).  Harris found the back of the net for her team-leading ninth goal of the year.

The second half was scoreless while the home team held a 26-5 advantage in shots taken.  Barton senior goalkeeper Taylor Primack (Lindenhust, Ill.) kept Young Harris at bay thanks to a season-high 16 saves.

The Mountain Lions' goalkeeper, Mckenna Peaster (Clarkesville, Ga.), made three stops on the afternoon.

Barton remains on the road to take on UNC Pembroke on Saturday at 1:00 p.m., in a conference contest in Pembroke, N.C., while Young Harris hosts Erskine Saturday at 4:00 p.m.
