VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – The Barton men's volleyball team (4-1) swept a pair of matches – 3-0 over Eastern Mennonite and 3-0 over Virginia Wesleyan – Saturday afternoon at the Virginia Wesleyan Invitational at TowneBank Arena. Barton has now won four straight matches.

The Bulldogs downed the Royals by scores of 25-14, 25-13 and 25-22 and limited the Royals to a 0.097 hitting percentage in the win.

Jack Sandahl (Gloucester, Va.) led the way with a match-high 12 kills while senior outside hitter
Brandon Johnston (Hawkes Bay, NEW ZEALAND) added 10 kills as the Bulldogs hit .346 in the win.

Seth Deppe (Mukwonago, Wis.) added a double-double – 29 assists and 12 digs – in the triumph as well. Eastern Mennonite was led by David Ward (Gloucester, Va.) with 11 kills in the setback.

The Bulldogs rolled the host Marlins by scores of 25-17, 25-17 and 25-15 to complete the two-match sweep on the day.
Sandahl and Johnston finished with 13 and nine kills, respectively, while Deppe totaled 31 assists in the triumph. Johnston added 12 digs for the double-double for the Bulldogs, hit .345 for the contest. Virginia Wesleyan was paced by Matthew Sheppard's (Chesapeake, Va.) with 10 kills but the home squad hit just 0.031 for the match and committed 12 service errors.
Barton opens Conference Carolinas play on Friday, February 9, against Lees-McRae in Banner Elk, N.C., beginning at 5:00 p.m., in its next contest.
