BANNER ELK, N.C. – The Barton men's volleyball team (5-1, 1-0) opened Conference Carolinas play with a 3-0 sweep over Lees-McRae (1-7, 0-1) Friday evening at Williams Gymnasium.
The Bulldogs, winners of five straight contests, won by scores of 25-22, 25-12 and 25-16.

Jack Sandahl (Gloucester, Va.) with 11 kills and senior outside hitter
Brandon Johnston (Hawkes Bay, NEW ZEALAND) with 10 kills as the Bulldogs hit .354 for the match in the victory.

Seth Deppe (Mukwonago, Wis.) added 28 assists as the visitors limited the Bobcats to a .103 hitting percentage.
The Bobcats received six kills from both M.J. Doyle (Virginia Beach, Va.) and Sebastian Heer (Weston, Fla.) but Lees-McRae was hurt by 10 service errors in the setback.
Barton remains on the road to face King in Bristol, Tenn., in a league contest Saturday at 2:00 p.m., while Lees-McRae hosts Mount Olive Saturday beginning at Noon.
