WILSON, N.C. – The Barton women's volleyball team (4-7, 0-3) fell to Emmanuel (7-6, 3-2) by a 3-0 score Saturday afternoon in a Conference Carolinas match at Wilson Gymnasium.
The Lions defeated the Bulldogs by scores of 25-16, 25-17 and 25-14 and increased their winning streak to two matches.
Emmanuel, which hit .343 for the contest, was led by Alaina Emminger (Lilburn, Ga.) with 11 kills while Jocelyn Martin (Easley, S.C.) added 10 kills in the victory.
The Lions also received a 33-assists, five-dig performance from Gabrielle McGlamery (Fayetteville, N.C.) in the triumph. Emmanuel held an 8-0 advantage in service aces as well.
Barton was paced by senior outside hitter
Allison Gambill (Hickory, N.C.) with her fifth double-double on the year – 13 kills and 11 digs – while senior setter
Madison Greene (Angier, N.C.) totaled 19 assists and junior outside hitter
Lauryn Pitt (Greenville, N.C.) had a half-dozen kills in the setback.
Barton remains at home to take on UNC Pembroke on Tuesday evening in a league contest beginning at 7:00 p.m., while Emmanuel faces Southern Wesleyan on Tuesday at 7:00 p.m., in Central, S.C.
