WILSON, N.C. – The Barton women's volleyball team (4-6, 0-2) fell to Young Harris (6-5, 3-1) by a 3-1 score Friday evening in a Conference Carolinas match at Wilson Gymnasium.
The Mountain Lions won over the Bulldogs by scores of 25-21, 19-25, 25-19 and 25-19 on their way to their second straight victory.
Young Harris was led by Chase Vaigneur (Beaufort, S.C.) with 18 kills and was one of four players to reach double figures for the Mountain Lions in the win. Joha Bernis (Auburn, Ga.) added 29 assists for Young Harris, who was able to overcome 15 service errors in the win.
Barton was led by senior outside hitter
Allison Gambill (Hickory, N.C.) with an impressive double-double – 19 kills and 18 digs – despite the loss. Senior setter
Madison Greene (Angier, N.C.) totaled 36 assists and 11 digs for the Bulldogs in the setback. Gambill also moved up to fifth on the squad's all-time kills list with 1,208.
Barton will look to bounce back on Saturday at 2:00 p.m., when the Bulldogs host Emmanuel (Ga.) in a Conference Carolinas match while Young Harris travels to Mount Olive, N.C., to face Mount Olive on Saturday at 1:00 p.m.
