MURFREESBORO, N.C. – The Barton men's soccer team (2-4-1, 1-2) fell to Chowan (2-3-1, 2-1) by a 3-0 score in a Conference Carolinas match Wednesday afternoon at Hawks Field.
The Hawks – winners of two consecutive matches – received goals from Leke Ademola (Eastbourne, ENGLAND), Brandon Hill (High Point, N.C.) and Abdoulie Sanneh (Wake Forest, N.C.) in the victory.
Sanneh also assisted on Chowan's second goal which occurred just 1:15 after intermission to help the Hawks take control.
The Bulldogs held a 17-9 advantage in shots taken while Chase Jansen (Palm Beach, Fla.) earned the shutout victory in goal for the home team. Jansen tallied seven saves on the day. Barton sophomore goalkeeper
Steingrimur Gunnarsson (Grenivik, ICELAND) suffered the loss despite tallying a pair of saves.
Barton will look to bounce back on Saturday when the Bulldogs face league-foe Francis Marion at home beginning at 5:30 p.m., while Chowan takes on Mount Olive next Tuesday, September 26, at 6:00 p.m., in Mount Olive, N.C.
