MURFREESBORO, N.C. – The Barton women's soccer team (1-1-2, 1-0-1) dealt Chowan (1-3, 1-1) a 2-1 loss in a Conference Carolinas contest Tuesday afternoon at Hawks Field.

Gianna Ferigne (Brick, N.J.) scored the match-winner just outside the top left side of the box after taking a long pass from the right side courtesy of junior defender
Avery Vorholt-Alston (Fayetteville, N.C.), who was credited with the assist.
Barton tied the score at one when senior forward
Kassie Krul (Rockport, Maine) drilled one from the right side from about 20 yards out which deflected off the goalkeeper's hands and into the net. Krul also scored for the second consecutive game.
Chowan's goal came at the 6:37 mark of the first half when Natasha Bailey (Dudley, ENGLAND) found the back of the net off a breakaway. The Hawks' Regan Jackson (Holly Springs, N.C.) was given the assist on the play.
The Hawks held a 13-9 edge in shots taken despite the loss. Barton senior
Cara Davis (Angier, N.C.) earned the victory in goal after stopping four shots while the Hawks' goalkeeper, Lauren James (Chesapeake, Va.), suffered the loss. James tallied one save on the afternoon.
Barton returns home to take on Francis Marion in a Conference Carolinas match Saturday afternoon beginning at 3:00 p.m., while Chowan next travels to Mount Olive, N.C., to take on Mount Olive on Tuesday, September 26, at 6:00 p.m.
