DURHAM, N.C. – The Barton men's soccer team (2-2-1) made it two victories in a row with a 2-1 triumph over Shaw (3-2-1) Wednesday evening at Durham County Memorial Stadium.
Barton senior forward
Luis Weber (Stuttgart, GERMANY), the reigning Conference Carolinas Men's Soccer Player of the Week, broke a one-all with the match-winner at the 78:29 mark of the second half.
Weber headed the ball into the net off a corner kick from junior forward
Gabriel Slemer Lopes (São Paulo, BRAZIL), who was credited with the assist. The goal was Weber's team-leading third of the season.
Barton sophomore forward
Tommy Migliarotti (Milan, ITALY) scored his first goal of the year in the 64th minute before Shaw's Zamal Mallebranche (Boston, Mass.) tied the score on a penalty kick just over four minutes later.
Barton held a 12-5 advantage in shots taken while freshman goalkeeper
Dalton Houser (Lakeland, Fla.) earned the victory in his first collegiate start. Houser stopped one shot on the night. Shaw's Pablo Bas Colomer (Valencia, SPAIN) suffered the loss in goal despite four saves.
Barton returns to Conference Carolinas play on Saturday when the Bulldogs travel to Mount Olive, N.C., to take on rival Mount Olive beginning at 7:00 p.m. Meanwhile, Shaw takes on Belmont Abbey in Belmont, N.C., next Wednesday, September 20, starting at 7:00 p.m.
