WILSON, N.C. – The Barton women's volleyball team (1-0) opened the 2023 campaign with a 3-0 sweep of Emory & Henry (0-1) Friday evening at Wilson Gymnasium.
The Bulldogs, under the debut of
Riley Casner, defeated the Wasps by scores of 25-22, 26-24 and 25-23 in front of 350 fans at Wilson Gymnasium.
Barton was led by senior outside hitter
Allison Gambill (Hickory, N.C.) with a double-double – 12 kills and 15 digs – while senior setter
Madison Greene (Angier, N.C.) added 15 assists and seven digs as the Bulldogs limited the Wasps to just a .108 hitting percentage in the victory.
Emory & Henry was led by Brianna Hogan (Front Royal, Va.) with nine kills while Payton Rolfsen (Fort Wayne, Ind.) totaled 27 assists and eight digs for the visitors in the losing effort.
Barton remains at home to take on Virginia Union on Tuesday beginning at 6:00 p.m., while Emory & Henry travels to Athens, W.Va., to take on Concord Tuesday at 7:00 p.m.
