Barton baseball shuts out Savannah State, 5-0, Tuesday on the road

SAVANNAH, Ga. – The Barton baseball team (23-17) hit the road and picked up a 5-0 victory over Savannah State (24-9) Tuesday afternoon at Tiger Field.

Barton sophomore Jacob Shapley (Sewell, N.J.) and freshman Walker Fuller (Virginia Beach, Va.) combined on a six-hit shutout.  Shapley (4-3) pitched five scoreless innings while Fuller held the Tigers without a run over the final four frames for his first save of the year.

Four Tigers' errors led to three unearned runs for the Bulldogs while senior shortstop Ryan McIsaac (Millville, N.J.) finished with a pair of hits and an RBI in the victory.  McIsaac also scored three of the Bulldogs' five runs in the win.

Savannah State's Andrew Mann (Tampa, Fla.) fell to 2-4 after taking the loss.

Barton returns to Conference Carolinas play on Saturday when the Bulldogs host UNC Pembroke in a key doubleheader beginning at Noon while Savannah State faces Clark Atlanta on Friday in Atlanta, Ga., beginning at 4:00 p.m.
