Barton women’s lacrosse on the short end to Belmont Abbey, 20-8 at home

WILSON, N.C. – The Barton women's lacrosse team (7-7, 4-3) suffered a 20-8 loss to Belmont Abbey (8-6, 5-1) Wednesday evening in a Conference Carolinas game at Electric Supply Company Field and Truist Stadium.

The Crusaders' Riley D'Andrea (Farmingdale, N.Y.) scored five times while Olivia Carlino (Campbell, Calif.) added four goals as Belmont Abbey remained in the hunt for the league title.

Belmont Abbey jumped out to a 4-0 advantage after one period of play and never looked back in notching the victory.  The Crusaders held advantages in both shots taken (33-21) and ground balls (23-20) while Summer Eddinger (Fallston, Md.) earned the victory in goal after stopping five shots on the evening.

Barton was led by junior attacker Sydney Quinn (Fuquay-Varina, N.C.) with three goals but was the lone Bulldog to notch more than one score in the contest.  Quinn leads the team with 26 goals on the season.  Barton sophomore goalkeeper Savannah Graves (Calvert County, Md.) made a pair of saves but suffered the loss.

Barton next travels to Spartanburg, S.C., to take on Converse in a league contest on Saturday starting at 2:00 p.m., while Belmont Abbey takes on Chowan Saturday at 1:00 p.m., in Murfreesboro, N.C.
