BRISTOL, Tenn. – The Barton men's volleyball team (3-17, 3-9) suffered a 3-0 setback to King (12-14, 7-5) Friday evening in a Conference Carolinas contest at the Student Center Complex.
The Tornado, who avenged an earlier regular season loss to the Bulldogs, won over Barton by scores of 25-15, 25-15 and 27-25.
King was led by Warren Davis (Mansfield, Texas) with a match-high 18 kills while Jack Sarnowski (Winter Springs, Fla.) added 40 assists, four digs and a pair of kills as the home team hit .450 for the match and totaled 14 blocks in the triumph.
Barton was led by sophomore right side hitter
Jake Adams (Clermont, Fla.) with 11 kills in addition to five digs and sophomore setter
Seth Deppe (Mukwonago, Wisc.) with 31 assists and four digs in the losing effort.
The Bulldogs, who suffered their seventh straight setback, held a 24-22 edge in the third set and were about to avoid the sweep but the Tornado was able to rally.
In the next slate of Conference Carolinas games on Saturday afternoon beginning at 2:00 p.m., Barton travels to Banner Elk, N.C., to take on Lees-McRae while King remains at home to host Mount Olive.
