CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Barton men's volleyball team (3-16) fell to Queens University of Charlotte (10-12), 3-2, Tuesday evening at the Levine Center and Curry Arena.
The Royals, an NCAA Division I school, defeated the Bulldogs by scores of 25-18, 20-25, 21-25, 25-13 and 15-10 and rallied from a 2-1 deficit to sweep the season series from Barton.
Queens was led by Matthew Pilch (Cedarburg, Wisc.) with a match-high 19 kills and was one of three Royals' players to notch double figures in kills while Daniel Leitao (Lisbon, PORTUGAL) added 38 assists, seven kills and nine digs as the home team won its second consecutive match. The Royals were also able to overcome 22 service errors in the victory.
Barton, which lost its third straight five-set contest, was paced by sophomore right side hitter
Jake Adams (Clermont, Fla.) with 10 kills and senior
Moses Kresch (Hershey, Pa.) chipped in with 19 assists, seven digs and three assists in the losing effort. The Bulldogs did total 11 blocks in the losing effort.
Barton returns to the court on Friday, March 31, when the Bulldogs travel to Bristol, Tenn., to take on King in a league match beginning at 7:00 p.m., while Queens hosts Alderson Broaddus on Thursday at 6:00 p.m.
