DUE WEST, S.C. – The Barton men's volleyball team (3-13, 3-6) suffered a four-set defeat to Erskine (12-9, 7-3), 3-1, Saturday afternoon in a Conference Carolinas contest at Belk Arena.
The Flying Fleet won over the Bulldogs by scores of 25-16, 25-20, 20-25 and 25-18.
Erskine was led by Kacper Rybarczyk (Warsaw, POLAND) with a match-high 21 kills while Edgerrin Austin (Joliet, Ill.) added 13 kills as the Flying Fleet swept the season series from the Bulldogs.
The Flying Fleet's Francisco Pomar (Ponce, PUERTO RICO) also totaled 47 assists, seven digs and five service aces as Erskine limited Barton to a .118 hitting percentage in the victory.
Barton was paced by junior middle blocker
Thomas Fanic (Narbonne, FRANCE) with eight kills and sophomore setter
Seth Deppe (Mukwonago, Wisc.) with 30 assists and the Bulldogs did finish with 11 team blocks despite the loss.
Barton returns home to host Belmont Abbey in a league game Friday beginning at 7:00 p.m., at Wilson Gymnasium while Erskine hosts King Friday starting at 5:00 p.m.
