WILSON, N.C. – The Barton men's lacrosse team (5-4) suffered a 17-9 loss to No. 20 Florida Tech (4-2) Tuesday afternoon at Electric Supply Company Field and Truist Stadium.
The Panthers jumped out to a 10-3 advantage after one period of play and never looked back in the victory. A trio of Florida Tech players – Collin Stewart (Westminster, Md.), Nate Deplancke (Viera, Fla.) and Justin Carte (Schuylerville, N.Y.) – all scored three goals in the win.
Barton was led by junior midfielder
Logan Wheeler (Fuquay-Varina, N.C.), with five total points – two goals and three assists – while graduate student attacker
Mark Crawford (Chesapeake Beach, Md.) also scored twice for the Bulldogs in the setback. The Bulldogs also suffered their third straight loss.
Florida Tech held a 4-3 advantage midway through the first period before scoring nine straight times to take a 13-3 advantage into intermission. The Panthers held edges in both shots taken (47-26) and ground balls (38-21) while Jax Francisco (Westminster, Md.) earned the victory in goal after tallying seven saves. Barton freshman goalkeeper

Barton opens Conference Carolinas play on Saturday when the Bulldogs host Emmanuel beginning at 1:00 p.m., while Florida Tech hosts No. 15 Colorado Mesa on Saturday, March 18, at 3:00 p.m.
