WILSON, N.C. – The Barton baseball team (1-2) picked up its first victory of the 2023 season with a 4-2 triumph over No. 19 Millersville (Pa.) (2-1) Monday afternoon at Nixon Field.

Ian Asken (Apex, N.C.) (1-0) allowed just two runs over five innings of work to go along with eight strikeouts in picking up the win in his first appearance in a Bulldogs' uniform while junior
Brett Widerman (Wilmington, N.C.) earned the save after throwing four scoreless innings to close out the contest.

Raymond Paniagua (Blue Springs, Mo.) opened the scoring in the second frame with an RBI sacrifice fly which proved to be the game-winner. Barton freshman shortstop
Ty Garza (Grosse Ile, Mich.) added a run-scoring single as the Bulldogs took advantage of four Marauders' errors in the triumph.
Tyler Wright (Exton, Pa.) hit an RBI double for Millersville while Kory Williams (Pennsauken, N.J.) (0-1) suffered the loss for the visitors.
Barton hits the road for the first time this season when the Bulldogs travel to Hartsville, S.C., to take on Coker Wednesday beginning at 2:00 p.m., while Millersville hosts Felician Thursday at 5:00 p.m.
