WILSON, N.C. – The Barton baseball team (0-1) kicked off the 2023 season with a 7-4 loss to Millersville (Pa.) (1-0) Saturday afternoon at chilly Nixon Field.
The Marauders, ranked No. 19 in NCAA Division II, rallied from a 3-0 deficit after five innings of play to take the win. Millersville's John Seibert (Lititz, Pa.) hit a solo home run and broke a three-all tie with the game-winning RBI in the ninth inning. The Marauders plated four runs in the final frame to take control of the contest. Seibert and Bren Taylor (Hallam, Pa.) both drove in two runs for the visitors.

Ryan McIsaac (Millville, N.J.) added an RBI double in the ninth inning in the setback.
On the mound, Millersville's Sam Morris (Spring City, Pa.) (1-0) earned the win after pitching the final two innings while Barton senior
Brett Widerman (Wilmington, N.C.) (0-1) was tagged with the loss.
Barton and Millersville continue the weekend series with a doubleheader on Sunday morning beginning at 9:30 a.m., at Nixon Field.
