MOUNT OLIVE, N.C. – The Barton baseball team (3-9, 1-5) split a Conference Carolinas doubleheader with Mount Olive (8-3, 4-2) Sunday afternoon at Scarborough Field.
Game One – Barton 5, Mount Olive 1 (seven innings)

Tanner Halvorson (Eau Claire, Wis.) (1-2) earned his first victory of the season after allowing just one run with three strikeouts in the complete game victory.

Joshua Hoffman (Belle Vernon, Pa.) and senior shortstop
Ryan McIsaac (Millville, N.J.) both hit solo home runs while sophomore catcher
Chase Waddell (Lucama, N.C.) hit the game-winning two-run single in the first game. Hoffman finished with three runs scored and three hits to lead the Bulldogs.
Mount Olive's Cooper George (Bluffton, S.C.) drove in a run while Erik Johnson (Rush, N.Y.) fell to 1-1 after being tagged with the loss.
Game Two – Mount Olive 8, Barton 4
The Trojans salvaged the split after spotting the Bulldogs a 2-0 advantage then reeling off eight straight runs to take the victory. Mount Olive was led by J.T. Stone (Fayetteville, N.C.) with three hits and three runs batted in including an RBI double in the third frame which proved to be the game-winner.

Jared Beebe (Atco, N.J.) had a pair of hits and drove in a pair of runs and Waddell drove in another run in the setback for the visitors.

Jacob Shapley (Sewell, N.J.) fell to 1-2 after being tagged with the loss. Mount Olive's Dawson Gause (Lake Wylie, S.C.) (1-0) earned the win after throwing six innings and striking out a pair of batters.
Barton hosts Bridgeport at Nixon Field beginning at 2:00 p.m., on Tuesday while Mount Olive hosts Dominican on Tuesday starting at 4:00 p.m.
