WILSON, N.C. – The Barton men's volleyball team (3-10, 3-4) won its second consecutive match with a 3-1 triumph over King (9-12, 4-3) Saturday afternoon at Wilson Gymnasium in a Conference Carolinas contest.
Barton won over King by scores of 25-11, 25-20, 23-25 and 25-21.
The Bulldogs were paced by sophomore outside hitter
Brandon Johnston (Hawkes Bay, NEW ZEALAND) with a double-double – 15 kills and 13 digs – while sophomore setter
Seth Deppe (Mukwonago, Wis.) added 39 assists and five digs as the home team hit .317 for the match in the victory.
King, which suffered its fourth loss in its last five matches, was led by Jackson Carroll (Mukwonago, Wis.) with a match-high 17 kills and Jack Sarnowski (Winter Springs, Fla.) added 39 assists but the visitors were hurt by 21 service errors in the setback.
Barton sophomore middle blocker
Benjamin Wiechert (Suffolk, Va.) also crossed double-digits in kills, totaling 13 on the afternoon to go along with four assists and four digs.
Barton next travels to Fairfax, Va., to take on George Mason on Saturday, March 4, beginning at 5:00 p.m., while King hosts Lincoln Memorial Tuesday night at 7:00 p.m.
