WILSON, N.C. – The Barton men's volleyball team (2-10, 2-4) took care of Lees-McRae (6-6, 3-2), 3-0, Friday evening in a Conference Carolinas match at Wilson Gymnasium.
The Bulldogs won over the Bobcats by scores 25-23, 25-15 and 25-19 in winning their second straight match at home.
Barton was led by sophomore outside hitter
Brandon Johnston (Hawkes Bay, NEW ZEALAND) with eight kills while sophomore setter
Seth Deppe (Mukwonago, Wis.) added 20 assists, six digs and a pair of kills in the victory. Barton also totaled nine blocks as a team and limited Lees-McRae to a .134 hitting percentage for the contest.
Lees-McRae, which suffered its three straight setback, was paced by Sebastian Heer (Weston, Fla.) with a match-high 11 kills while Bradley Peters (Virginia Beach, Va.) neared a double-double – 31 assists and nine digs – in the losing effort. The Bobcats were also hurt by 15 service errors.
In the next round of Conference Carolinas matches on Saturday afternoon beginning at 2:00 p.m., the Bulldogs host King (Tenn.) while Lees-McRae takes on Mount Olive in Mount Olive, N.C.
