WILSON, N.C. – The Barton women's lacrosse team (1-2) came up short to Shepherd (1-0) by a 16-11 score Saturday afternoon at Electric Supply Company Field and Truist Stadium.
The Rams, playing in their first game of the season, were led by Kaiya Edwards (Brogue, Pa.) with four goals while Katie Paredes (Frederick, Md.) and Shanna Dextradeur (Middletown, Md.) added three goals each in the victory.
Trailing by a 3-2 score with just under four minutes left in the first period, Shepherd reeled off four straight goals to take the lead for good including the match-winner by Katie Paredes (Frederick, Md.). Shepherd held a 28-18 advantage in shots taken while Hailey Bennett (Westminster, Md.) earned the win in goal after stopping five shots on the day.

Sydney Quinn (Fuquay-Varina, N.C.) – added two scores each in the setback. In goal, sophomore
Savannah Graves (Calvert County, Md.) played the first half and made 10 saves in the losing effort for the Bulldogs.
Barton hits the road to take on Catawba on Wednesday, February 22, in Salisbury, N.C., beginning at 3:00 p.m., while Shepherd hosts West Chester on Tuesday starting at 2:00 p.m.
