WILSON, N.C. – The Barton men's volleyball team (0-9, 0-3) suffered a 3-1 loss to Erskine (5-7, 2-2) Friday evening in a Conference Carolinas match at Wilson Gymnasium.
The Flying Fleet, who snapped a two-match losing streak, won over the Bulldogs by scores of 25-21, 25-23, 25-27 and 25-22.
Erskine was led by Edgerrin Austin (Joliet, Ill.) with a match-high 16 kills while Francisco Pomar (Ponce, PUERTO RICO) added a double-double – 52 assists and 10 digs – as the visitors prevailed despite 17 service errors.
Barton was paced by junior outside hitter
Brandon Johnston (Hawkes Bay, NEW ZEALAND) with 14 kills while sophomore right side hitter
Jake Adams (Clermont, Fla.) added 11 kills in the losing effort.

Seth Deppe (Mukwonago, Wis.) dished out 42 assists to go along with six digs for the Bulldogs, who continue to search for their first win of the year.
Barton hosts Emmanuel on Saturday at 2:00 p.m., in a league match while Erskine travels to Mount Olive, N.C., to take on Mount Olive on Saturday afternoon beginning at 2:00 p.m., as well.
