TIGERVILLE, S.C. – The Barton men's volleyball team (0-7, 0-1) opened Conference Carolinas play with a 3-0 setback to North Greenville (6-3, 1-1) Friday evening at Hayes Gymnasium.
The Crusaders defeated the Bulldogs by scores of 25-21, 25-8 and 25-17 while picking up their first victory of the year.
North Greenville was led by Diego Rosich (Cupey, PUERTO RICO) with a match-high 12 kills while Jorge Riesgo (Charleston, S.C.) added 35 assists and three services in the win.
The home team hit .543 for the match while limiting the Bulldogs to a .097 hitting percentage. North Greenville also totaled seven service aces on the night.
Barton was paced by sophomore right side hitter
Jake Adams (Clermont, Fla.) with a team-high 11 kills and sophomore setter
Seth Deppe (Mukwonago, Wisc.) added 22 assists and five digs in the losing effort.
Barton takes on Belmont Abbey in a league match Saturday afternoon beginning at 2:00 p.m., while North Greenville hosts Mount Olive Saturday at 2:00 p.m., as well.
