PEMBROKE, N.C. – The Barton women's volleyball team (9-16, 5-11) fell to UNC Pembroke (17-13, 11-5) by a 3-0 score on Saturday afternoon in a Conference Carolinas contest at Lumbee Guaranty Bank Court.
The Braves won by scores of 25-18, 25-22 and 25-21 to sweep the season series from the Bulldogs and win their fourth consecutive contest.
UNC Pembroke was led by Vanja Przulj (Belgrade, SERBIA) with 15 kills and 16 digs while Katie Pressley (Indian Trail, N.C.) notched a double-double as well – 38 assists and 12 digs – as the Braves limited the Bulldogs to a .155 hitting percentage in the triumph.
The Braves also totaled 10 service aces in the triumph over the Bulldogs.
Barton was paced by junior outside hitter
Henly Sleight (Jackson, Mich.) with 12 kills and 12 digs and junior setter
Hailey Strey (Cape Coral, Fla.) with 13 assists and 12 digs in the losing effort.
Barton hosts Francis Marion for Senior Day in a league match and the regular season finale on Monday, November 6, at Wilson Gymnasium beginning at 7:00 p.m., while UNC Pembroke travels to Mount Olive, N.C., to take on Mount Olive Monday at 6:00 p.m.
