WILSON, N.C. – The Barton women's soccer team (7-5-5) upended rival Mount Olive (6-5-7), 1-0, Saturday afternoon in the quarterfinals of the 2023 Conference Carolinas Championship at Electric Supply Company Field and Truist Stadium.
Barton, the fourth seed in the tournament, now moves on to the semifinals to take on top-seeded UNC Pembroke (10-3-3) on Friday at 4:30 p.m., at the Truist Soccer Complex at Bryan Park in Browns Summit, N.C. The Trojans were the fifth seed in the tournament.

Taylor Smith (Dudley, N.C.) headed the ball into the net off a corner kick from senior forward
Kassie Krul (Rockport, Maine) just 7:05 into the contest for the lone goal of the match. The score was Taylor's first of the year.
Krul was credited with the assist and now has a team-leading 22 points on the year.
Mount Olive held a 28-14 edge in shots taken but senior goalkeeper
Cara Davis (Angier, N.C.) earned her sixth shutout of the year after tallying eight saves to preserve the victory for Barton. The Trojans' Nicole Solocito (Stony Point, N.Y.) suffered the loss in goal despite three stops on the day.
