MURFREESBORO, N.C. – The Barton women's volleyball team (9-15, 5-10) defeated Chowan (5-21, 4-12) by a 3-1 score Friday evening in a Conference Carolinas contest at Hawks Athletic Center and Bob Burke Court.
The Bulldogs prevailed over the Hawks by scores of 26-24, 29-27, 18-25 and 25-14 to win their second straight contest and sweep the season series from Chowan.
Barton was led by junior outside hitter
Henly Sleight (Jackson, Mich.) with 10 kills and 13 digs while junior defensive specialist
Lilly Meyer (Greencastle, Ind.) added 26 digs as five players tallied at least eight kills for the visitors in the victory.
Chowan was led by Ellie Middleton (Petersburg, Ky.) with a match-high 16 kills while Sydney Ginaitt (Valrico, Fla.) totaled a match-high 40 assists and 15 digs in the losing effort.
Barton remains on the road to take on UNC Pembroke in a league contest Saturday at 2:00 p.m., in Pembroke, N.C., while Chowan hosts Young Harris Saturday at Noon.
