BRISTOL, Tenn. – The Barton women's volleyball team (5-11, 1-7) took King (6-9, 3-3) to five sets but fell by a 3-2 score on Saturday afternoon in a Conference Carolinas match at the Student Center Complex.
The Tornado won over the Bulldogs by scores of 25-18, 14-25, 22-25, 25-22 and 15-10 while taking the fourth and fifth sets on their way to their third straight victory.
King was led by Hailee Blankenship (Goode, Va.) with 14 kills while Katie Harless (Abingdon, Va.) came through with a big-time double-double – 37 assists and 23 digs – in the victory.

Allison Gambill (Hickory, N.C.) also notched her eighth double-double on the season – 15 kills and 14 digs – while senior setter
Madison Greene (Angier, N.C.) tallied 25 assists and 18 digs and junior defensive specialist
Lilly Meyer (Greencastle, Ind.) totaled a season-high 30 digs in the losing effort.
Barton did have 15 service aces as a team but hit just .107 in the losing effort.
Barton remains on the road to take on Shaw in Raleigh, N.C., on Tuesday beginning at 6:00 p.m., while King takes on Lees-McRae in Banner Elk, N.C., starting at 7:00 p.m., on Tuesday as well.
