RALEIGH, N.C. – The Barton women's volleyball team (5-12) suffered a 3-1 loss to Shaw (19-4) Tuesday evening at C.C. Spaulding Gymnasium.
The Bears downed the Bulldogs by scores of 22-25, 25-17, 25-13 and 25-22 on their way to a ninth straight victory.
Shaw was led by Noelani Beard (Kaneohe, Hawai'i) with 15 kills and 12 digs while Lauren Janok (Rougemont, N.C.) added 40 assists in the victory for the home team.
For Barton, senior outside hitter
Allison Gambill (Hickory, N.C.) tallied her ninth double-double on the season – 12 kills and 15 digs – while junior outside hitter
Henly Sleight (Jackson, Mich.) totaled nine kills in the losing effort.
The Bears also limited the Bulldogs to a 0.029 hitting percentage.
Barton returns to Conference Carolinas play on Friday when the Bulldogs travel to Belmont, N.C., to take on Belmont Abbey beginning at 7:00 p.m., while Shaw hosts Johnson C. Smith tomorrow at 6:00 p.m.
