WILSON, N.C. – The Barton women's volleyball team (8-15, 4-10) downed Erskine (6-21, 3-11) by a 3-1 score in a Conference Carolinas match Saturday afternoon at Wilson Gymnasium.
The Bulldogs won over the Flying Fleet by scores of 27-29, 25-15, 25-21 and 25-16.
Barton was paced by senior outside hitter
Allison Gambill (Hickory, N.C.) with a monster double-double – a match-high 19 kills and 20 digs – while junior right side hitter
Lily Haaga (Herriman, Utah) and junior outside hitter
Henly Sleight (Jackson, Mich.) added 12 and 10 kills, respectively, in the win.
Gambill now has 14 double-doubles on the season while senior setter
Madison Greene (Angier, N.C.) finished with 27 assists and 11 digs as the Bulldogs limited the Flying Fleet to a .071 hitting percentage on the day. Gambill also moved into fourth-place on the school's all-time list for kills with 1,378.
Erskine was led by Ali Angell (Mocksville, N.C.) with 15 kills in the setback for the visitors.
Braton next travels to Murfreesboro, N.C., to take on Chowan on Friday evening in a league match beginning at 6:00 p.m., while Erskine hosts Young Harris on Tuesday at 6:00 p.m.
