SALISBURY, N.C. – The Barton football team (5-4, 3-4) couldn't hold an 11-point halftime advantage and suffered a 32-27 loss to Catawba (4-5, 2-5) Saturday afternoon in a South Atlantic Conference contest at Shuford Stadium.
The Indians' Marquece Williams (Columbia, S.C.) ran for 111 yards and rushed for three touchdowns including the game-winning score with 11:08 remaining as Catawba rallied from a 21-10 deficit at intermission to take the win and snap a three-game losing streak.

Malcolm Wilson (Salisbury, N.C.), a Barton transfer, added 173 yards rushing and a score as Catawba totaled 331 yards on the ground and scored touchdowns on three straight possessions in the second half in the triumph.

Jordan Terrell (Ramseur, N.C.) rushed for 151 yards and two scores – his sixth game crossing the century mark on the year – and junior quarterback
Tyler Flippen (Summerfield, N.C.) added 244 yards and two touchdowns in the losing effort.
Barton had a chance on its last drive but Catawba's Denoris Wardlow (Winston-Salem, N.C.) intercepted a pass at the Indians' 21-yard line and returned it 50 yards to preserve the victory.

Matt Smith (Raleigh, N.C.) finished with a dozen tackles while sophomore wide receiver
Isaiah Jacobs (Raleigh, N.C.) caught five passes for 129 yards including a 61-yard touchdown reception in the losing effort. The Bulldogs totaled 406 yards in the losing setback.
Barton returns home to host Limestone for Senior Day in a South Atlantic Conference game next Saturday night, November 4, at 6:00 p.m., at Truist Stadium and Electric Supply Company Field. Catawba travels to Hickory, N.C., to take on Lenoir-Rhyne next Saturday beginning at 2:00 p.m.
