TIGERVILLE, S.C. – The Barton men's soccer team (6-6-4, 4-4-3) battled North Greenville (4-8-4, 4-4-4) to a 1-1 tie in a Conference Carolinas match and the regular season finale Friday afternoon at Pepsi Stadium.
Barton opened the scoring with a penalty kick goal by junior midfielder
Aaqil Khairun (Kuala Lumpur, MALAYSIA) at the 62:32 mark of the second half. The goal was Khairun's first of the season.
North Greenville tied at the score at one when Cameron Fowler (Knoxville, Tenn.) found the back of the net in the 74th minute. Matteo Galeotti (Parma, ITALY) was credited with the assist.
The Crusaders held a 16-15 edge in shots taken while sophomore goalkeeper
Steingrimur Gunnarsson (Grenivik, ICELAND) made six saves for the Bulldogs. North Greenville's Michel Weber (Hamburg, GERMANY) made seven stops in goal for the home team as well.
Barton and North Greenville will next compete in the 2023 Conference Carolinas Men's Soccer Championship which begins with the First Round on Wednesday, November 1. The seeds for the tournament will be announced this weekend by the league office.
