WILSON, N.C. – The Barton women's volleyball team (7-13, 3-8) won its second consecutive match with a 3-0 sweep of Chowan (4-18, 3-9) Wednesday evening in a Conference Carolinas contest at Wilson Gymnasium.
The Bulldogs won by scores of 25-20, 25-15 and 25-22 for its second straight sweep as well.
Barton was led by senior outside hitter
Allison Gambill (Hickory, N.C.) with her 11th double-double on the season – 13 kills and 13 digs – while junior outside hitter
Henly Sleight (Jackson, Mich.) added eight kills and nine digs as the Bulldogs limited the Hawks to a negative 0.020 hitting percentage in the triumph.
Barton also picked up seven service aces and held a 41-21 edge in total kills in the win.
Chowan was paced by Kayleigh Lance (Virginia Beach, Va.) with five kills while Diana Rodriguez (Tijuana, MEXICO) added a dozen digs in the setback. The Hawks also suffered their third straight loss.
Barton remains at home to face rival Mount Olive in a league contest as part of Think Pink night Friday at 7:00 p.m., while Chowan travels to Florence, S.C., to take on Francis Marion Saturday beginning at 2:00 p.m.
