Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Barton men’s basketball stays at the top of the league after rolling by North Greenville, 84-64

WILSON, N.C. – The Barton men's basketball team (8-5, 6-0) kept its perfect record in Conference Carolinas play intact after taking care of North Greenville (1-12, 0-6), 84-64, Saturday afternoon at Wilson Gymnasium.

Barton sophomore guard Marcus Boykin (Clinton, N.C.) and senior forward Trevon Spencer (Columbia, N.C.) both scored 21 points as the Bulldogs remained the lone unbeaten squad in league play in sweeping the season series from the Crusaders.  Boykin leads the squad at 21.4 points per contest this year.

Barton jumped out to a 40-21 advantage at halftime and survived an early run by the Crusaders after intermission to win their second straight game.  The Bulldogs also connected on 19-of-25 attempts from the charity stripe and forced the Crusaders into 19 turnovers in the victory.

North Greenville's Drayton Burton (Piedmont, S.C.) and C.J. Jamison (Greer, S.C.) both scored 15 points for the visitors, who suffered their 10th straight setback.  The Crusaders cut a 22-point deficit in the first half to four – 52-48 on a jump shot by Seth Hewitt (Boiling Springs, S.C.) with 10:45 remaining – but the Bulldogs responded with a 6-0 run and led by double digits the rest of the way.

Junior guard Donaven Hairston (Atlanta, Ga.) added 18 points for the Bulldogs, who also improved to 6-1 at home this year.

Barton remains at home to face league-rival Mount Olive on Wednesday night beginning at 7:00 p.m., while North Greenville hosts King on Tuesday in conference action Tuesday at 7:00 p.m.
