FLORENCE, S.C. – The Barton men's basketball team (11-8, 9-3) fell in a Conference Carolinas road game to Francis Marion (11-7, 8-4), 82-65, Tuesday evening at the Smith University Center.
The Patriots placed five players in double figures – led by Jonah Pierce (Sanford, Fla.) with 17 points – as Francis Marion snapped a three-game losing streak. Pierce added 14 rebounds for a double-double.
Barton sophomore guard
Caleb Reams (Rocky Mount, N.C.) led the visitors with 16 points but the Bulldogs hit just one-of-20 three-point attempts in suffering their third consecutive setback.
The Patriots took a 36-28 lead into halftime and pushed their advantage to as many as 24 points – 75-51 with 5:01 left in the contest – while holding a 51-31 edge on the boards.

Trevon Spencer (Columbia, N.C.) and sophomore guard
Dwayne Anderson (Durham, N.C.) also scored in double figures for Barton, both finishing with 10 points on the night.
Barton returns to Wilson Gymnasium to take on Erskine on Saturday afternoon in a conference contest beginning at 2:00 p.m., while Francis Marion remains at home to face Lees-McRae Saturday at 4:00 p.m.
