WILSON, N.C. – The Barton women's basketball team (3-13, 3-6) played UNC Pembroke (12-6, 9-1) close for most of the game but the Braves pulled away late to down the Bulldogs by a 69-47 score Wednesday evening in a Conference Carolinas game at Wilson Gymnasium.
The Braves' Hannah Russell (Burlington, N.C.) finished with a team-high 19 points while Zaria Clark (Stanley, N.C.) added 15 points and 12 rebounds for a double-double as UNC Pembroke broke a 40-all tie in the third period with a 29-7 run to end the contest for the win.

Lauren Walker (Charlotte, N.C.) scored a game-high 24 points and hit five treys but was the lone player to score in double figures for the home team. The Bulldogs shot just 27 percent (15-of-56) from the field while the Braves held a 48-31 advantage on the boards in the victory.
The Braves, who stand in sole possession of second place in the league standings, also won their ninth straight game. Barton junior guard
Cierra Revelle (Sanford, N.C.) added eight points and 10 rebounds and neared a double-double in the losing effort.
Barton looks to bounce back on Saturday when the Bulldogs travel to Spartanburg, S.C., to take on league-foe Converse beginning at 2:00 p.m., while UNC Pembroke faces Francis Marion Saturday at 2:00 p.m., in Florence, S.C.
