SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Barton women's basketball team (4-13, 4-6) used a strong third quarter to pull away from Converse (3-16, 3-9) in an 80-59 win Saturday afternoon in a Conference Carolinas game at Wilson Gymnasium.

Nyah Wilkins (Garner, N.C.) both finished with a game-high 17 points to lead the visitors as the Bulldogs outscored the Valkyries by a 31-11 count in the third quarter to pull away for the victory and sweep the season series from Converse.

Payton Sutton (Charlotte, N.C.) nearly finished with a double-double – 13 points and nine assists – in the victory as well. Barton held a 49-37 advantage on the boards and forced the home team into 17 turnovers.
Converse's Jordan Brown (McCormick, S.C.) was one of three players to reach double figures for the Valkyries, finishing with 16 points but the home team shot just four-of-28 (14 percent) from behind the three-point line in the setback.
Barton remains on the road to take on Francis Marion in league action Tuesday night beginning at 5:30 p.m., in Florence, S.C., while Converse hosts King Tuesday at 5:00 p.m.
