WINGATE, N.C. – The Barton women's soccer team (0-2) was nipped by Wingate (4-0), 1-0, Saturday afternoon at Pride Park.
Wingate scored the lone goal just 10:27 into the match when Sascha Larsen (Soendersoe, DENMARK) headed the ball into the net off a corner kick from Caroline Peters (Sharpsburg, Ga.) for her second score of the year. Peters was credited with the assist.
Neither team found the back of the net the rest of the way while Wingate held an 11-5 advantage in shots taken.
Wingate's goalkeeper, Katrine Thisgaard (Engesvang, DENMARK), earned the shutout victory – her second of the season – after stopping a pair of shots. Barton senior

Barton will look to bounce back in the Conference Carolinas opener next Saturday, September 10, against Converse in Spartanburg, S.C., while Wingate hosts Anderson in its South Atlantic Conference opener on Wednesday starting at 5:00 p.m.
