PEMBROKE, N.C. – The Barton women's volleyball team (2-9, 1-3) fell in three sets to UNC Pembroke (9-10, 6-1) Wednesday evening in a Conference Carolinas contest at Lumbee Guaranty Bank Court.
The Braves, winners of five straight matches, downed the Bulldogs by scores of 25-15, 25-22 and 25-21.
UNC Pembroke was led by Vanja Przulj (Belgrade, SERBIA) with 15 kills while Katie Pressley (Indian Trail, N.C.) added 23 assists, four service aces and four digs as the Braves hit .330 for the match in the win.
Barton lost despite 12 kills from both senior outside hitter
Allison Gambill (Hickory, N.C.) and sophomore right side hitter
Lily Haaga (Herriman, Utah). Gambill also had nine digs and was one short of a double-double but the Bulldogs suffered their third straight loss.
Barton looks to bounce back on Friday when the Bulldogs travel to Murfreesboro, N.C., to take on league-foe Chowan beginning at 6:00 p.m., while UNC Pembroke faces Converse on Saturday in Spartanburg, S.C., at 2:00 p.m.
