MOUNT OLIVE, N.C. – The Barton women's volleyball team (2-10, 1-4) fell in three sets to rival Mount Olive (11-7, 4-1) Tuesday evening in a Conference Carolinas contest at Kornegay Arena.
The Trojans swept the Bulldogs by scores of 25-18, 25-15 and 25-21 and won for the fifth time in their last six contests.
Mount Olive was led by Sam Widelski (Wake Forest, N.C.) with 12 kills and nine digs while Amara Eziakonwa (Tampa, Fla.) added 10 kills, three service aces and two blocks as the Trojans finished with nine service aces in the victory.
Barton was led by senior outside hitter
Allison Gambill (Taylorsville, N.C.) with 10 kills and eight digs and junior setter
Madison Greene (Angier, N.C.) added 16 assists in the setback. The Bulldogs, however, were limited to a .152 hitting percentage in suffering their fourth straight loss.
Barton will look to bounce back at home on Friday night at 7:00 p.m., against Converse in a league contest at Wilson Gymnasium while Mount Olive travels to Due West, S.C., on Friday to take on Erskine beginning at 6:00 p.m.
