COLUMBUS, Ga. – The No. 23 Barton men's golf team took seventh place overall at the Cougar Invitational, hosted by Columbus State University, which concluded Tuesday with the third and final round at the Green Island Country Club.
The Bulldogs totaled an 883 (+43) on the par-70, 6,512-yard course while Anderson won the three-round event with an 859 (+19), besting top-ranked and defending national champion Lee by one stroke.
Barton was led by sophomore
Daniel Adkins (Holly Springs, N.C.), who carded a 218 (+8) over the 54-hole tournament while Lee's Beck Burnette (Blairsville, Ga.) earned medalist honors after firing a five-under 205. Barton junior
Harrison Wierse (Wilmington, N.C.) tied for 14th overall with a total of 219 (+9).
Barton next competes in the Ironwood Collegiate Classic on Monday, October 3, and Tuesday, October 4, at Ironwood Golf & Country Club in Greenville, N.C.
