DUE WEST, S.C. – The Barton men's soccer team (3-5, 2-2) came up short to Erskine (1-6-1, 1-3-1) by a 3-2 score Saturday afternoon at Huggins Field in a Conference Carolinas match.
The Flying Fleet's Joao Bruno Campana (Manaus, BRAZIL) broke a one-all tie with a penalty kick goal which proved to be the match-winner at the 34:27 mark of the first half as Erskine notched its first victory of the year.
Erskine's Benjamin Martinez (Rock Hill, S.C.) added an insurance goal for the home team in the 56th minute for a 3-1 advantage as the Flying Fleet won despite the Bulldogs' 15-6 edge in shots taken.

Sebastian Stephan (Auckland, NEW ZEALAND) both found the back of the net – the first and last goals of the matches – in the losing effort.

Steingrimur Gunnarsson (Grenivek, ICELAND) made a pair of saves but suffered the loss for the Bulldogs, who also saw their two-match winning streak snapped. Erskine's Evan Zizek (Nobleton, Ontario, CANADA) made nine saves and earned the victory in goal.
Barton looks to recover on Wednesday at 7:00 p.m., when the Bulldogs travel to Mount Olive, N.C., to take on Mount Olive while Erskine hosts Bob Jones Tuesday at 6:00 p.m.
