WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – The Barton women's volleyball team (1-4) fell to both New Haven and Saint Cloud State by 3-0 scores Friday on the first day of Palm Beach Atlantic's Hyatt Place Bash at the Beach at Rubin Arena.
New Haven 3, Barton 0
The Chargers (3-2) defeated the Bulldogs by scores of 25-14, 25-15 and 27-25 while being led by Macy Brown (Cadillac, Mich.) with 11 kills and 13 digs. Sophia Leon-Tabor (Fort Myers, Fla.) added 18 assists for New Haven, who hit .306 for the match in the win.
Barton was paced by senior outside hitter
Allison Gambill (Taylorsville, N.C.) with seven kills to go along with 14 digs while junior setter
Madison Greene (Angier, N.C.) chipped in with 14 assists in the setback.
Saint Cloud State 3, Barton 0
The Huskies, ranked No. 8 in NCAA Division II, remained unbeaten on the season at 5-0 with a sweep of the Bulldogs, 25-8, 25-18 and 25-22.
Saint Cloud State hit .329 for the match and was led by Maddie MacTaggart (Omaha, Neb.) with nine kills and Allena Shimon (Des Moines, Iowa) with 19 assists. Gambill totaled 11 kills and Greene finished with 13 assists despite the loss for Barton.
Barton looks to bounce back on the final day of the round-robin tournament on Saturday against Lynn (2:00 p.m.) and Palm Beach Atlantic (7:00 p.m.).
