WILSON, N.C. – The Barton men's soccer team (1-1) picked up its first victory of the 2022 season and first win under new mentor
Josh Horne with a 6-2 triumph over Methodist (0-1) Sunday evening at Electric Supply Company Field and Truist Stadium.

Ingebrigt Braenden (Trondheim, GERMANY) scored twice while freshman midfielder
Nathan Drake (Walstonburg, N.C.) added a goal and an assist as the Bulldogs scored four goals after intermission to break the contest open.
Grove scored the match-winner at the 14:38 mark of the first half to open the scoring after finishing off a deflected save inside the box. Braenden scored both of his goals after intermission while Drake finished off the scoring with 30 seconds remaining in the contest.
Barton held a 19-6 advantage in shots taken while sophomore goalkeeper
Jonathon Joplin (Newton, N.C.) earned the win in goal for the home team with a pair of saves. Methodist's Matt Brown (Virginia Beach, Va.) and Kellen Pace (Charlotte, N.C.) scored for the visitors and Matthew Walker (Apex, N.C.) took the loss in goal despite stopping seven shots.
Barton remains at home to take on Catawba on Wednesday at 7:00 p.m., at the Bulldogs Athletic Complex while Methodist takes on New England College on Friday, September 2, in Manchester, N.H.
